What to Expect at Yun Way Counseling
Therapy doesn’t have to be work. It can be the relief of finally being understood without having to explain yourself. It’s a collaborative, predictable space where you don’t have to be ‘perfect’ or have the right words to begin.
Free 15-Minute Consultation
Finding the right therapist is a personal decision. I offer a free 15-minute video consultation to hear your story, answer your questions, and see if my approach feels like the right fit for your journey. No pressure, just a conversation.
Telehealth / Online Therapy
Modern life is demanding, and your support should be accessible. I provide high-quality, HIPAA-compliant online therapy for residents of Virginia. Whether you’re at home or in a private corner of your office, you can skip the commute and engage in deep, meaningful work from a secure space where you feel most comfortable.
Meet your Therapist

Heejin Yun
Welcome! I’m Heejin Yun, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a provisionally registered Art Therapist (ATR-P). My work is shaped by clinical training and a deep understanding of how essential steady support is when life feels overwhelming or unclear.
I believe therapy is a process of unmasking—quieting the noise of external expectations so you can finally listen to your own internal voice. It is about moving from a life of “shoulds” toward a deep understanding of your own needs and your authentic self.
I work with people who feel they are constantly performing to meet others’ expectations, those who have mastered the art of looking ‘together’ while struggling with perfectionism and feeling silently burnt out underneath, and those caught between the loyalties of two different cultures. Whether you feel like you are just barely keeping it together or you simply feel ready to understand yourself on a deeper level, I provide a grounded space to help you move beyond survival and toward a life of clarity and sustainability.
I earned my Master’s from The George Washington University and have practiced in hospitals, intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. This clinical background allows me to balance creative insight with the structure needed for real growth.
Having lived across cultures, I understand the pressure of “saving face” and complex family loyalties. I offer therapy in English and Korean, ensuring your story is heard in the language that feels most like home.
Area of Focus
Anxiety / Depression
Anxiety and depression often manifest as a silent, heavy weight beneath a perfectly maintained exterior. My approach goes beyond surface-level symptoms to explore the emotional roots of your distress. Together, we work to understand the ‘why’ behind these feelings, helping you break free from the cycle of performing and move toward a life of genuine clarity and ease
Life Transitions
Life’s heaviest transitions—such as divorce, grief, fertility struggles, or immigration—can leave you feeling like you are simply in survival mode. I provide a grounded, courageous space to process these profound shifts. By exploring the interpersonal impacts of change, we work to reshape your narrative, helping you navigate these transitions with a renewed sense of purpose and stability.
Generational Trauma / PTSD
Trauma is often carried not just in our memories, but in the subtle patterns of our daily lives and family legacies. I specialize in the deep exploration of generational trauma and cultural identity gaps, particularly for those navigating the pressures of immigrant family dynamics. We work to uncover these deep-seated patterns, allowing you to process the past and reclaim a future defined by your own values.
